Welcome to the July 2010 edition of Shepherd and Wedderburn's Intellectual Property E-bulletin.

In this edition of the Intellectual Property E-Bulletin we look at a dispute between a University and an employee regarding copyright and highlight the importance of documenting any agreement with an employee in writing and we provide an update of the launch of the UK Green Patents Database, which holds green inventions designed to help the development of environmentally-friendly technology.

We also consider the civil action which FIFA is taking against Bavaria beer for its World Cup ambush marketing stunt, in contravention of FIFA's regulations not to promote any brands other than official sponsors during the World Cup games and the South African laws passed to protect FIFA against such activity but first we turn to the dispute between airline company easyJet and Sir Stelios, the easyJet founder and owner of the easyJet name, regarding the interpretation of the provisions of the brand licensing contract between the two parties which sets out the amount of revenue that the airline can raise from other ventures such as hotels.
