Law Firm Celebrates Success With A Bang
Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn celebrated the sparkle of success at Aberdeen Art Gallery last night. Almost 150 people from the city's business community attended a drinks reception to mark the company's growth.
Since opening in 2004, Shepherd and Wedderburn's Aberdeen office, which specialises in oil and gas, has almost quadrupled in size - going from an initial team of four to now employing 15 members of staff.
The team includes: Leon Moller, former Petroleum Commissioner of Namibia and John Southworth, former head of Nabarro Nathanson's oil practice and former Head of Legal at Marathon Oil UK.
Partner, Richard Cockburn said: "We are delighted at how well the Aberdeen office has done since it opened. We are now a thriving office with a specialised oil and gas team. Shepherd and Wedderburn has worked with some great clients and this event gives us an opportunity to thank them for their continued support.
"The office is celebrating two fantastic additions to our team with the appointment of Helen Dickson and Caroline Cumming, both formerly of Ledingham Chalmers. Helen, who joined us in May has become a Partner specialising in finance while Caroline will be an Associate specialising in property and is due to join us in December."
Shepherd and Wedderburn has in-depth experience of a wide variety of oil and gas related projects. Most recently, the law firm advised DeepOcean ASA on a deal to acquire UK based submarine trenching company CTC Marine Projects Ltd for a price which, excluding debt, consists of an initial consideration of GBP 45.8 million and a deferred payment of GBP 14.2 million, which is dependent on future earnings in CTC Marine Projects.
"We are very excited about our future," commented Richard. "We were recently appointed as exclusive UK legal advisers to the West African Action Group which provides Leon Moller with a fantastic opportunity to utilise his expertise. We are also working on a number of important deals at the moment which will further help develop the Aberdeen office," he added.
