Further City Hire for Shepherd and Wedderburn
Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn announces that Elaine Colville is to join the firm's London office.
Elaine arrives from European firm Taylor Wessing, where she was a partner in the Real Estate department.
She will join Shepherd and Wedderburn as a partner in the firm's established property division at the end of May. The announcement of her arrival follows the recent appointment of two City-based partners, Blair Adams and Angus Rollo.
During her career at Taylor Wessing, Elaine worked with Shepherd and Wedderburn partner David Smith advising Matthew Oakeshott of OLIM's property investment clients on English and Welsh property matters.
She will continue to advise OLIM's investment clients, as David will in Scotland.
Elaine said: "I'm certainly no stranger to Shepherd and Wedderburn, having worked with David Smith for the past 20 years. The culture really attracted me to the firm and the recent success and growth of its London office establishes them as a serious player in the City. It’s a great time to be joining the team.”
Elaine specialises in property investment advice for pension funds, insurance companies and property companies which has included forward purchase of developments, and purchase and lease back transactions, both of single assets and of large property portfolios. She has also had many years' experience in property finance.
Her recent transactions include setting up and funding limited partnerships and the acquisition and funding of shopping centres.
Patrick Andrews, chief executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: “It’s a real coup to have attracted someone of Elaine’s calibre to the firm.
"Her appointment allows us to consolidate the advice we already offer to OLIM's property investment clients.
"Elaine's real estate experience, particularly in the South and in France, will also be a real asset to the firm, as will her experience in other areas of business management, such as training and development.
"This is a really exciting time for our City office − and we are delighted that Elaine will be an integral part of its continued growth.”
A graduate of Kent, Elaine was admitted in 1978. Her main clients include BAE Systems Pension Funds, ASDA Pension Fund, Value and Income Trust and Scottish American Investment Company.
She recently worked on the sale of the Salman portfolio of property in central London, comprising a mix of residential, retail and office worth £28m, exchanging in just seven days.
