Shepherd and Wedderburn acts for Indian giant in £595m purchase of Whyte & Mackay

Continuing its run of major corporate deals, UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has acted as Scottish legal adviser to United Spirits Limited ('USL') in its £595 million acquisition of the Whyte and Mackay Group.  The Shepherd and Wedderburn team, led by corporate finance partner, Marian Glen, acted alongside Linklaters. Shepherd and Wedderburn also provided specialist advice on Scottish property and banking aspects of the deal through partners Dorothy Boyd and Andrew Kinnes.

This follows Shepherd and Wedderburn acting as lead legal adviser to Cairn Energy on the $6.3 billion Indian IPO of its Indian oil and gas exploration business and acting for ScottishPower in the £11.3 billion recommended Iberdrola SA offer in steering the scheme of arrangement through the courts.
