The firm proves to be a hit with FTSE 100 companies

Shepherd and Wedderburn has surged into the top ten UK law firms when ranked by the market capitalisation of FTSE 100 companies which it has as clients.

Adding banking giants HSBC Holdings to its client list has seen Shepherd and Wedderburn make a big splash in the Hemscott league table, rocketing to an impressive eighth place from outside the top 20 in last quarter's rankings.

The research by one of the leading providers of financial information also places Shepherd and Wedderburn in ninth spot in a separate league table based on the combined profit of FTSE 100 clients.

Shepherd and Wedderburn chief executive Patrick Andrews said: "This ranking shows that we continue to punch well above out weight when it comes to the work we do for our clients. It is also just recognition of the high quality of work we produce for some of the biggest companies in the world."
