Shepherd and Wedderburn strengthens litigation practice

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has appointed Alastair Frood as a partner in the Litigation Division. Frood joins the firm on 28 July.

Frood was previously Head of Banking and Finance Litigation at DLA Piper Scotland, where he specialised in banking and finance litigation acting of behalf of banks and building societies in Scotland, as well as debt factors, asset financiers, insurance companies, financial advisers and brokers.

Frood will be joined by assistant Katie Martin and will be based in the firm's Glasgow office. He will work closely with the banking, corporate finance and restructuring and insolvency teams to provide specialist support in dispute resolution and litigation for the firm's banking and finance clients.

Patrick Andrews, Chief Executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn commented,

"I am delighted that Alastair has agreed to join us. He brings with him extensive experience in a wide variety of litigation that banks and other clients in the financial sector are involved in and is a key appointment for both the litigation practice and the firm as a whole.

"His experience complements the firm's mainstream banking practice and his appointment will boost the growth of this practice area and add value to the firm's corporate client base."

Frood's arrival, along with last year's appointment of Patrick Bell who specialises in project finance and the recent promotions of Gordon Hay in mainstream banking and Fiona Paterson in restructuring and insolvency will enable the firm to offer a seamless service to all banking clients.
