Oil and gas sector companies ignite IPO market

In 2005, eighteen oil and gas sector companies, including Aberdeen oil services company Sovereign Oilfield Group, raised over £600 million in IPO's on the London Stock Exchange.

According to Paul Hally of UK law firm, Shepherd and Wedderburn, "After last year's resurgence of oil and gas sector company listings, we have been approached by a number of companies considering IPO's. In response to this interest, we have teamed with Evolution Securities, an investment bank, to offer an evening seminar on oil and gas sector company IPO's. Attendance should be mandatory for any company even vaguely considering an IPO."

Shepherd and Wedderburn has been active in a number of recent high-profile oil and gas sector transactions, including the £133 million recommended offer by Dyon UK for Edinburgh Oil & Gas plc, the US$25 million sale of Alba Resources and the £102.9 million secondary issue by Cairn Energy plc.

The hour long seminar will focus on essential information for companies considering IPO's. Experienced oil and gas sector capital market specialists will give an overview of the prevailing climate for oil and gas sector company IPO's, detail critical success factors for IPO's and outline the IPO process.

The seminar will be held on 6 February at The Marcliffe at Pitfodels Hotel.

Numbers for the seminar are limited and places may be reserved on line at http://www.shepwedd.co.uk/seminars
