Managing pension scheme risk in the downturn

The economic downturn has served only to exacerbate the challenges faced by trustees and employers in running of pension schemes.
Funding is not the only issue: huge volatility, poor investment performance and increasing member longevity have all played their part.
These forces have combined to force employers to look closely at controlling cost and/or reducing the risks associated with running their defined benefit pension schemes.
This timely seminar looks at the legal perspective on managing occupational pension scheme risk. Topics covered will be:
- a review of actions taken by employers
- developments in re-shaping benefits to deal with risk
- alternative approaches to de-risking pension scheme liabilities
- making changes to the pensions promise: issues for employers and the role of trustees
- managing risk through investments: the legal perspective
Audience
Pension scheme trustees, finance directors, pension consultants, HR managers.
